The School Council has been established for a few years now, and it has a very positive effect on the day to day running of the school.
Year 3-6 have members on the School Council, and throughout the year, many meetings are held where the children can have their say on the running of the school, and have a chance to give forward some ideas for different occasions.
A vote is held at the start of each year, where each child can vote two children from their class to represent them on the council. These members then meet, at least twice a term to discuss different ideas, and to put forward incentives and to create the programme for the upcoming year. The class members have to report back to the rest of the class after every meeting.
The Class Council and the School Council gives the opportunity for students to develop the school for thewellbeing of everyone. It also gives opportunity for children to develop crucial skills such as communication, listening, giving opinion and problem solving.
Also, the school council choose two charities a year to raise money towards. One local charity, and a national charity, such as Children In Need. The children are given a chance to orgainse the event, create posters and write letters to inform parents.
